People who look after some of the most vulnerable local people have been honoured.
The winners of the first annual Bolton Cares awards have been announced at an awards ceremony.
To celebrate Bolton Cares first year in business, both staff and public have been able to vote for which team, person or project they feel deserves to be recognised for their hard work. Bolton Cares is a newly established care company and is a key provider of care for Bolton residents. Bolton Cares is owned by Bolton Council.
After Bolton Cares successful first year, Chief Executive Officer John Livesey said: “Looking back over the last 12 months I can’t help but be impressed by what we have achieved. I am incredibly proud of the Bolton Cares team and want to thank all our wonderful employees who achieve amazing things every day. Congratulations to all the winners and all those who were nominated.”
The winners of each award were:
Warm, Friendly and Caring Award – For the person or team that best delivers warm, friendly and caring services.
Thicketford Older Adults Day Care Centre
The team has provided an outstanding service to their elderly service users, showing compassion and care to each individual user while also providing friendship and warmth to their volunteers.
Putting People First Award – For the person, team or project that has had the most positive impact on the lives of the people who use our services.
Shared Lives Carers Lee and Gill McCoy
Both Lee and Gill have constantly placed the needs of their service users above their own, making them an asset to the services.
Best Young Employee Award – For the young person who has made the biggest impact on the services that they work in and who has taken steps to develop their skills, knowledge and experience.
Jasmin Parkinson from the Thicketford Autism Centre
Jasmin started her career as an apprentice and has developed into a caring support worker who successfully supports those with very complex needs.
Extra Mile Award – For the person or team that has gone over and above what is expected to deliver outstanding care and support.
Adrianna Dodds from the Short Breaks Service
Adrianna has gone above and beyond to accommodate service users. She also keeps the staff up to date with communications and work outside of her work hours, providing other staff with a great role model.
Best Team Member Award – For a person who continuously supports colleagues and puts the team first, looking after their colleagues as well as the needs of service users.
Susan Duffy from the Brazley Centre
Susan is brilliant at helping new service users settle in and is a reliable and encouraging team player.
Best Manager Award – For the manager who has given great support to their staff, going beyond what would be expected, and demonstrates the company’s values in their work.
Stella Truman from the Brazley Centre
As manager, Stella treats all staff as equals, being understanding and approachable while always putting the service users first. She is always helping with everyday tasks and gives constructive feedback with the aim of improving the service.
Best Team Award – For a team that works together to demonstrate excellence in its work towards the company’s mission, vision, and values.
This team is renowned for its professionalism, positive attitude and empathy for its clients’. They have a wealth of experience supporting vulnerable adults and respond exceptionally well to emergencies and other risks.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Rose has been dependable, caring and supportive to hundreds of service users in a range of roles and services. She has always been an integral part of the services she has worked in.
Those who completed a full 25 years of work for Bolton Council and Bolton Cares combined were given the Long Service Award. The winners of this award were:
